7/17/2025: Upon careful review with the contractor on the constructability of the storm sewer under East Lake Drive, between Monticello and Lashbrook Streets, it was determined that there would be insufficient room to safely maintain the northbound lane around the excavation. Therefore, they need to place “hard” closures on East Lake Drive, just south of Monticello Street and just north of Lashbrook Street. This will allow two-way traffic on East Lake Drive, other than the work zone between Monticello and Lashbrook. The traffic detour map has been revised.
6/10/2025: City Council awarded a contractor on May 5th. The contractor is tentatively scheduled to start the week of July 21st.
Description:
Over the last year, the City has been investigating and assessing the stormwater flow from the south end of Monticello Street all the way to the outfalls at Walled Lake. It has been determined that many ditches have silted in, culverts are undersized and/or severely deteriorated, and the main outfall at Walled Lake requires replacement. The City of Novi will be hiring a contractor to replace and upsize several culverts/outfalls, regrade ditches, and repave affected areas of East Lake Drive and Monticello Street back with asphalt or chip seal materials.
